In my twenties I mixed travel with study and always found myself drawn to the spiritual buildings and practices of the places I visited. I studied Philosophy and Creative Writing, which exposed me to the strong relationship between Creativity, Spirituality and what it means to live a more Connected life. But it was while living in the Buddhist country of South Korea, after finding work as an Early Childhood Teacher, that I felt I had found my purpose. I loved working with the children so much that I returned to Australia to study Early Childhood Education.
I found the University’s Degree offering in Education valuable but again, I sensed that “Something More’. Lucky for me, during my first role in Australia as an Early Childhood Teacher, I worked under a wonderful Mentor who helped me develop a teaching practice based on following my own inner wisdom. She taught me to trust the process of teaching from my intuition and my heart as much as any curriculum. Together we developed a Nature Based Outdoor Classroom where I was given the freedom to create and teach a program based on feeling into the needs of the children and the environment. I knew this was the missing link, the ‘something more’ to my work in Education! Over time, I have combined my experience in yoga and meditation with my work in Education.
In the last few years, since becoming a Mum to my three young boys, my yoga and meditation practiced has deepened. I began studying yoga and developed a daily self-practice. I completed my training in Kids Yoga Teacher Training as well as certificates in Meditation Teaching. My intention now is to live a life that is fluid, weaving my passions and loves together. My practice. My work. My play. My family. My life. It is all Yoga!
My passion is in sharing and building the practice of Conscious Education. Recently I have worked on developing a program for children that combines my knowledge of Early Childhood Education with elements of Yogic Philosophy. I am passionate about creating change in the world of Education, about guiding children to trust in their innate knowledge, in their own inner worlds. I look forward to offering this program through Spanda School in 2018!
